Tribeka adds Patronus protection to enhance in store Movie on Demand Sales for DVDs
Tribeka has reached an agreement with Fortium to add Patronus DVD anti rip copy-protection support to its SoftWide® in store movie on demand manufacturing solutions. Patronus works on both single and dual layer recordable DVDs for the production of full length movie content which will help stores reduce piracy levels.
Effective immediately, the Fortium copy-protection will be included in Tribeka’s SoftWide® platform to give content owners the choice to increase physical protection levels either to complement the CSS legal standard or to replace it as a copy protection mechanism on recordable media. This offering is available to all Tribeka customers.
Patronus anti rip copy protection is widely used to protect pre release and commercial release content and was used on many of this year’s Academy Award and BAFTA nominated films. By using a proprietary encapsulation technique deep within the disc structure it successfully protects against some of the most aggressive ripping programs while conforming to the DVD standard and ensuring full playability.
“The inclusion of the Patronus copy-protection offers a great low cost benefit to our customers as they look to grow DVD sales through in store MOD distribution”, stated Daniel Doll-Steinberg, Tribeka’s CEO.
“Our agreement with Tribeka makes the addition of Patronus in the MOD workflow a seamless process ideally suited to dual layer DVD production, while providing a reliable method of deterring unauthorized copying.” added Mathew Gilliat-Smith, CEO of Fortium. He went on to say “Patronus is already being successfully used by a range of content owners.”

Tribeka is first to launch In Store Manufacture of USB
Tribeka has launched USB media as a brand new category to in store manufacture.
Over the last 3 years sales of netbook computers, USB enabled TV’s and USB enabled DVD players have continued to grow with increasing speed, taking a larger and larger share of the personal computer market. Without CD or DVD drives, retailers need USB to deliver software to their netbook customers. Until now, there have been very few software titles available on USB leaving netbook users with a very limited choice and retailers unable to satisfy their customers’ needs.
SoftWide is immediately making available over 50 software titles on USB. The range is expected to increase rapidly and to also include feature length movies and console game add-ons.
Faz Suleman, Tribeka’s SVP Worldwide Retail & Content, said “SoftWide is a revolutionary way to provide software and entertainment products for retailers and as the markets have evolved we strive to be at the forefront. Moving into USB will see our retail partners use SoftWide to meet existing demands and also create a brand new market. With retail customers now looking for multiple media formats – CD, DVD, BluRay, USB and Flash media – SoftWide’s ability to deliver all formats, without adding stock, will ensure that our retail partners will always be in stock, each time and every time.”

SoftWide® On-demand Production System to Provide UltraKey® 5.0 in Retail Stores
August 2, 2010 (North York, Ontario, Canada) – Bytes of Learning has closed an agreement with Tribeka Limited of the UK, that licenses Tribeka to distribute the keyboarding instruction software UltraKey on the SoftWide on-demand production system now appearing in retail stores around the world.
For over 25 years, UltraKey has been a leading keyboarding instruction system used by thousands of schools and districts across North America and other parts of the world. UltraKey is a popular choice among children and adults for home and professional use and sells in substantial volumes on the Internet. Like many excellent products, UltraKey has not been available in retail stores because bricks-and-mortar distribution is unable to accommodate anything but products that sell in higher volumes. That is, before now.
The SoftWide on-demand production system enables retail stores to produce commercial copies of any software title right on the premises. Time between purchase and completed production is from three to four minutes. The SoftWide system has just debuted in all the North American Microsoft stores that opened earlier in 2010. The SoftWide system has also launched in Australia, the UK, Europe and other parts of the world.
“I was stunned when I recently visited the Microsoft store and experienced the SoftWide system,” says Art Willer, President of Bytes of Learning.
“When, I inquired about a software title that was not on the shelf, the sales person replied, ‘Funny you should ask.’ Six minutes after I paid for the software, the sales person produced a fully professional, complete package of the title with user guide as if she had pulled it off a shelf in the back room. The back room contained a SoftWide system instead. I had a sense of being on the Starship Enterprise and saying, ‘Computer, make me a copy of this software.’”
UltraKey is already available in editions localized for the North America, Australia-New Zealand, and UK English markets, so Bytes of Learning and Tribeka are both excited to make UltraKey available through the revolutionary new SoftWide system.
UltraKey has just been recognized by TopTenReviews.com as one of the top three typing tutors available today so its availability on the SoftWide system will make many customers very happy.
Bytes of Learning Incorporated was founded in 1984 to develop and publish original technologies for education in schools, homes, offices and training environments. The company has published many award-winning products but is best known for UltraKey.

With unlimited stock the products are always available and retailers are able to serve all their customer demands no matter what volume is required.”

ESET Signs Up to Tribeka’s Retail Revolution
Bournemouth, UK (17th June 2010) - ESET UK announced today an agreement with Tribeka that will see ESET’s award-winning software sold by Tesco and other major retailers as part of Tribeka’s revolutionary distribution system, SoftWide. A unique on-site publishing model, SoftWide dramatically reduces warehouse storage and transportation requirements, in addition to cutting down on wastage; making it not only a cost effective distribution method, but environmentally friendly too. Customers will be able to buy ESET Smart Security and ESET NOD32 Antivirus from participating SoftWide outlets either online or instantly manufactured to order in store. Once the purchase is complete, the product is then manufactured on-site within minutes. By partnering with Tribeka, ESET can guarantee that its boxed products are always available in store, whilst ensuring no loss of quality in the end product.
"One of the biggest challenges in retail is predicting what the public want to buy from one day to the next and ensuring that it is in stock," says Amanda Davies, Retail Channel Manager of ESET UK. "Tribeka’s on-site publishing model eliminates this issue, whilst enabling considerable cost savings on storage and stock management. This, combined with providing an entry point into major high street retail outlets, makes Tribeka’s innovative distribution model a very attractive proposition to ESET."
ESET Smart Security is a tightly integrated anti-malware product designed to protect computers from a range of threats. Built on the award-winning ESET NOD32 Antivirus and its powerful ThreatSense engine, ESET Smart Security provides antispyware, antispam and customised firewall features to protect home and business users from Internet threats. ESET NOD32 Antivirus proactively detects and eliminates more viruses, trojans, worms, adware, spyware, phishing, rootkits and other Internet threats than any program available.
"The principal of SoftWide’s model is to enable retailers to offer a wide choice of key software titles, with constant availability. With a record-setting 62 VB100 awards from Virus Bulletin, the widely-respected independent comparative testing group, we welcome ESET’s internet security products into our rapidly growing software range," says Mark Furtado, Head of Digital Rights at Tribeka.
